Day 25: A Love that transforms us (I)

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God. who loved me and gave himself for me.

- Galatians 2:20

I've learnt that Loving like Jesus requires us to always operate from a standpoint of mercy. Sometimes I hear stories and I'm quick to unconsciously give harsh judgements. For instance, someone physically abuses his wife, and I'm thinking "why the hell did he do that, he should  be jailed" e.t.c. But then even though my sentiments may be justified it's not my place as a Christian to cast such judgements. I spoke from a place of anger and not from a place of mercy.  

Loving like Jesus has also required me to be soft-spoken and warm, which is what being meek is about. I do understand that not everyone is "quiet or an introvert" but Everyone should be sweet, tolerable and filled The fruits of the spirit. You cannot be rude and saucy if you want to love like Jesus. 

I used to be a highly irritable person and when people speak from a place of ignorance or a different perspective I automatically assume it's my job to correct their notion. Whereas loving like Jesus requires you to listen, Understand, persevere and correct if necessary from a place of love. We are Not to come off as arrogant or condescending when correcting others. We should speak, think, correct and evaluate situations with utmost self-control and not just sharing opinions based on feelings or pride. 

Loving like Jesus is not a feeling, sometimes we would feel bad, angry or sad, but love is a decision and commitment to treat yourself and others right, just as Christ would.
