On being content with your portion

Romans 12:4-5
"For even as we have many members in one body,
and all the members have not the same office,
so we, who are many, are one body in Christ.
And that makes us members of one another.

When I gave my heart to Jesus, I thought I'd automatically be able to all things without any hassle after all Phil 4:13 says "I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me". But I've been misinterpreting that scripture and so have many of us because the Bible also says unless God builds a house, they labor in vain that build it.

We all can do all things because God Has put the abilities in us, but our grace level differs. "through Christ that strengthens me"can be interpreted as "through Christ that gives me the Grace". God might give you the grace to do something you've been asking him for, but it might not be as much as some other person and it doesn't mean you aren't asking enough, it just means you're not gifted in that area all you need to do is find your place. If by any chance you cannot find your place, just keep acting in faith. God responds to Faith. Once you find your place! stick to that and do not try to be who you are not and watch how effective you'll be in doing what you do. If God doesnt give you the strenght to do a thing, you'll never be able to do it as good as someone who God has given the strenght.

What Paul was trying to say in Romans 12 is that we shouldn't try to be "jack of all trades" and master none but we should study ourselves and know the areas where God has given us more grace and FOCUS on them, master them and use it to the benefit of others. It also says although we all have different gifts, we should understand that He has given us different gifts for each others enjoyment.

1 Corinthians 12 says its how the Spirit of God gets worked into our lives.

We all have our special God-given gifts. For example, I love to study my Bible and understand it to a level in which I can explain it to others. I also love to help out and encourage people.I know people who get spiritual rhema in a second while it might take me maybe a day or two but instead of me trying to imitate them, compare myself to them or force it [which I used to do before], I work according to my Grace level and leave the rest to God. But when it comes to Loving on others and encouraging, by God's special grace given to me, I'm always on top of my game.

|God's spirit hands out Variety but to each of us Originality.|

Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit,
let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts,
but work out its implications in every detail of our lives.
That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse.
We have far more interesting things to do with our lives.
Each of us is an original.  \\ Galatians 5:25-26

You need to find your place. The Spirit of God cannot work what someone else has into your life, it doesn't work with the crowd. It does not lead us to do things just because its trending. That's the beauty of being born again, you'll learn to attach less importance to what majority is doing and learn to stand out. That's why the Bible even says you interesting things to do with your gifts that sitting around envying others won't allow you to do.

All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills || 1 Corinthians 12:1

On a practical level, let's take a choir, for example, everyone member sings a different tune, about 10 or more people might be singing soprano, but one person's soprano cannot sound like another person's soprano. And one person's bass can't sound like another's. It's the same with our God-given gifts. No matter how similar, there'd always be some sort of difference. There are various artists, writers, dancers, singers etc in the world, but each one has his own unique factor. We are all here to complement one another. The same way it's impossible for two body parts to be the exact same. no two people are exactly the same not even twins. Each of us is an original, but we all need each other.

Everyone is limited, if you could do it all by yourself, there won't be a need for the rest of us - Kenneth Hagin

If everyone can do things the exact same way, there'd be a lot of taking each other for granted but the fact that we are all different means we should be careful of pride, self-importance and don't think the others cannot do without you; you'd be surprised. We should also be careful of envy keeping in mind that all that we are and all that we have are sheer gifts from God. It is because of the body of Christ that we belong to.

If you admire someonés gift, go ahead and tell them, pray for them. Do not give in to envy or Jealously and never not even for a second be pompous with your own gift instead use it to the advantage of all God's children.

I pray that God helps us all.

With Love

  1. There are times when other people say it better. You just did, by the power of the holy Ghost. There were times when I used to feel like I was inadequate, not good enough, kept comparing my growth by other peoples standards. But there are things the Spirit of God has taught me over the years. 1. I am enough, that our differences as humans are not reasons for us to be jealous but God's fingerprint.
    2. That having jealousy or envy in your heart is superficial wisdom. James 3:14-15
