Day 18: No Prejudice in Love
Why should God reward you if you love only the people who love you? Even the tax collectors do that. (Mat 5:46)
And if you speak only to your friends, have you done anything out of the ordinary? Even the pagans do that. (Mat 5:47)
More than Once, I have found myself in a public gathering where we were asked at some point to hold the hands of our neighbour or pair up with someone. A few of those times I have seen myself scan through those around or the person next to me before reaching out, and if the person looks like "it', I happpily join hands...
The truth is, a good number of us do this consciously or even unconsciously, and that should not be! By the teaching of the HolySpirit and constant searching of the scriptures, I have come to realise that God is no respecter of persons - He is not partial, and if I remember clearly (and I am sure I do), we are instructed to be like Him.
As a Christian/believer, you're automatically and involuntarily called to walk in love, and walking in love is not a walk in the park or a day's journey. Every waking moment it is important to receive from God, the grace to walk in love. Trust me, every day there are tons of opportunity before us to demonstrate our love walk, and if we have to choose whom and whom not to show love, then we aren't really walking in love.

Love is not cliquish. It looks beyond appearances into the depth of the heart and character. When it comes to loving like Jesus, you cannot choose who to love, you have to love everyone [friends, strangers and even enemies] taking the good with the bad (and yes our love walk can be tested with something so little like holding hands). Love discovers the beauty in everyone [see Romans 12:17-18]. Love gets along with everyone and by loving like this, you never know what you would stir in the heart of strangers and even the so-called "enemies. Romans 12:20-21 says if we love like this, we heap burning coals on the head of the other person. The burning coals as explained by Joyce Meyer [in her book Reduce me to Love] represent the fire of Love we are showing that would eventually melt the hardness of the enemy's heart and also teach them to Love.
If we Love only our friends and family, it is because we know we would get Love in return, but that's selfish and Love is not selfish. we do not show love because of what we'll get in return we show love so that it can birth and stir more love in the hearts of others and all our lives would be richer for it.
