Gratitude Journal #1: What are you grateful for?
In the post about good books I read in the first half of 2015 I talked reading Andrews Wommack's book on Discovering the keys to staying full of God. The Second key to staying Full of God is by being thankful ALWAYS!
I got tagged by Laiza King to do the #LK30DayChallenge and one aspect of the challenge involves writing ten things I'm grateful for every day. This challenge has made me realize that there are so many things I'm supposed to be thankful for that I take for granted. When I started writing the ten things I'm grateful for each day, I'd first have to think hard before I could write on my paper.
The second day while I was still thinking hard, I figured I haven't even written that I'm grateful that I'm able to write or that I have a pen and paper to even write or that I have a roof over my head or that I can even think about things to be thankful for, or for the plantain chips I had just eaten, or for the person that gave me space in traffic that day etc
I managed to skip the little things because I felt what I need to be thankful for has to be something enormous or out of the ordinary. And that's what happens to most of us, we usually fail to thank God for his finger and we keep wondering why we haven't seen his hand.
So starting today and every Saturday morning on the blog I'm going to post as many things I'm thankful for as I can [this is besides the 10 things I'm making a habit of writing every night before I go to bed] Join me will you?
You would discover that even the little act of writing things you are grateful for will give your happiness and joy level a boost and when you make this a habit you would steer clear of depression.
So what am I grateful for today: That I'm a woman, the location I just thought of to take blog photos today, My beautiful newborn twin cousins, the joys of being an aunt, Also the dress I'm making, my friends new job, my friends successful post graduate application, listening to an amazing podcast before I fell asleep last night, beautiful ideas, beautiful mistakes, I'm grateful because I can drive now after dreading the thought of it for so long, meaningful relationships, a book on discovering Gods purpose for my life, technology and tools to make my work easier.
What about you?

ReplyDeleteYayyy! I'm glad you're part of the 30 day challenge. I need to add you to the Facebook group. I'll send an Instagram message.
ReplyDeleteI've been learning so much from the book, even though I've read it before. It feels so new again. That's one of the qualities of a great book.
I think I should've clocked 1 tank of water already, lol. That has been going very well too. Running away from little temptations like malt.
A grateful heart is a powerful one. I've been learning to appreciate life more. Theres ALWAYS something to be grateful for.
Thanks again for joining in.

Hello Kunmi,
ReplyDeleteWell done! Gratitude for blessings both big and small is good.
I am particularly grateful for the grace of God, and pretty much for everything else. The enthusiasm in Cassie's comment made me smile.
Have a lovely weekend.
It made me smile too
